About the Department

A 3 1/2 years sandwich diploma course in Electronics (Robotics) affiliated to Directorate of Technical Education (DOTE), Chennai, Tamil Nadu & approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, was started in the year 2003 as a self-financing program in Engineering and Technology. This program develops technicians in the specialized area of flexible manufacturing system and automation to meet industrial demand. With added experience there is a lot of potential for these diploma holders to become entrepreneurs or get overseas employment.

Highly qualified and experienced faculty members are the asset of this department. The students, guided by the faculty members, have completed many projects and have won several Competitions. The program is supplemented by several laboratories, which cover all areas of practical interest. Other than traditional laboratories like Electrical Circuits & Machines, Electronic Devices & Circuits, the students are exposed to specialized ones like Process Control & Instrumentation, Robotics, Hydraulic and Pneumatic, PLC, SCADA, Sensors, Computed Aided Drawing, Design & Manufacturing and Machine Shop Technology. The Robotics lab is equipped with the NACHI six axis robot to familiarize the students for pick and place operation.

PEO 1 To prepare diploma holder to synergistically integrate mechanical, electronics and Intelligent computer control in the design and manufacturing of industrial products and automation of industrial processes.
PEO 2 To impart training to the students to solve the real time problems related to the field of industrial robotics and allied areas demanded by the industry and society.
PEO 3 To provide an academic environment for the students to develop team spirit, leadership qualities, communication skills and the soft skills to exhibit professional responsibility with ethical code of conduct for sustainable development.
PEO 4 To make students to undergo continuous learning pursue higher education, and research of advances in robotics that supports career growth.
PSO1 Able to work with an industrial six axis robot in ON Line and OFF Line using AristoSim Software.
PSO2 Aware of Electrical and Electronics concepts, Computer Programming, Process control, industrial Automation and can develop ladder diagram in PLC for different industrial applications. Able to work with different types of sensors used in Robotic field..
PSO3 Familiar with Computer aided Drawing, Design and Manufacturing.
PSO4 Capable of working in industries systematically by undergoing industrial training for a period of one year as apprentice trainee during the course period.

Department of Electronics Robotics has organized the Guest Lecture in the topic of "BASICS OF MECHANICAL TRANSMISSION OF GEAR BOX" on 22.10.2021 Friday at 2.30 P.M for II year III Semester , III year V semester Students and Electronics Robotics department Faculty members. The Resource person is Mr. S. Sivachandran B.E., MBA, Senior sales Engineer, Bonfiglioli Transmission Private Limited, Chennai, India . The total no. of students participated is 62 and total no. of faculty members attended is 6.

Electronic Devices and Circuits Practical

The knowledge of Electronics circuits plays a vitol role in the development of the projects based on the concept of electronics with proper understanding of the concept of basic electronic devices, current & voltage characteristics of semiconductor devices, DC and AC circuits.

Electrical Circuits and Machines Practical

The fundamental knowledge about Electrical circuits, DC and AC machines and transformer is essential for all diploma holders. After completion of the experiments in this laboratory the students will be able to work with Electrical appliances.

Analog and Digital Electronics Practical

The knowledge of analog and digital circuits is necessary to design a circuit and to rectify problems in electronics circuits. The students completing this course will understand basic analog and digital electronics, including semiconductor properties, operational amplifiers, combinational and sequential logic circuits and analog-to-digital &digital-to-analog conversion techniques. Finally, students will gain experience in the design of circuits using analog amplifiers and logic devices.

Process control and instrumentation Practical

To provide basic knowledge about various sensors, data acquisition system and control system concepts such as mathematical modeling, time response and frequency response to work with real time systems. Then only students will able to explain principle of operation for various sensors and to calculate time domain and frequency domain parameter for given system.

Sensor Practical

Sound knowledge about various types of sensors are most important for an Electronic application. Students can able to measure various physical parameters using sensor.

Robotics Practical

In Recent days robots are used in automation industries. The students can simulate and analyze actual factory setup using Factory I/O with MHJ PLC software. Also they can simulate the applications like pick and place with Aristosim software. The Robotics lab is equipped with a NACHII six axis robot to familiarize the students for industrial application like pick and place operation.

Microcontroller and its interfacing practical

In this lab, students develop background knowledge and become core expertise of microcontroller. They familiarize with different peripheral devices and their interfacing to microcontroller. They can write assembly language program for microcontroller and design microcontroller based system for various applications.

Computer Aided Machine Drawing Practical

To provide knowledge about automation as per the latest requirements in the industries, this lab enables the student to draw the Elevations / Sectional elevations / Plan / and Side views with dimensioning and bill of materials using CAD Software.

Programming in 'C' Practical

Students gain basic knowledge about C-Programming to analyze the given problem. They solve the logical problems by developing programs using input and output operations, functions, structures and decision making Statements.

Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing Practical

This lab enables to learn the assistance of computer in the field of design and manufacturing areas. The application of material handling equipment is learnt based on the automation in the industries.

Life and Employability Skills Practical

A good communication skill plays a vital role in one's career. There are adequate employment opportunities in all the sectors. Students need to enhance their communication skills in English in order to cope with the tough competition. This practical covers effective communication strategies to enhance understanding and verbal communication with others.

Hydraulics, Pneumatics and PLC Practical

Hydraulics and Pneumatics systems play a vital role in the automation world. Students can gain adequate knowledge in this lab about hydraulic and pneumatic components, principle of working, usage & maintenance of components which are necessary in the field of automation.

Established under TNSDC – SEIMENS Project inaugurated by the Honorable Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami.

CBT lab is designed to teach the theory and tools of Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) with an emphasis on the central role of the geometric model in their seamless integration and a focus on the integration of these tools and the automation of the product development cycle.
