The Department started with well qualified faculty members specialized in applied electronics, Electronics and control etc.,who strive for establishing a Centre of excellence in technical education which in turn will bring out technocrats with superior skill and social commitment. The students are motivated by their guidance not only for their academics, but also for industrial & research work. The department of Electronics and communication Engineering moves with a vision to produce competent and disciplined Electronics and communication Engineers.
The department started functioning in the year 1981 with Electronics and Communication Engineering Sandwich course under G.O.I support.

Infrastructure
Laboratory Facilities
The Lab focuses on Electrical Circuits and Instrumentation experiments, Analog and Digital Experiments and Industrial Electronics experiments. The Lab has power supplies of various ranges, function generators, Cathode Ray Oscilloscope's, Trainer kits for Instrumentation and Power electronics fields.
The Lab has facilities like Communication Trainers, Cathode Ray Oscilloscope, Signal Generators, Power supplies, etc., to cater the needs of Electronic Devices and Circuits experiments, Advanced Communication systems experiments and Communication experiments.
The Lab has 22 systems with latest software to do Experiments on Embedded system, Microcontroller, Simulation and C programming practicals.
The Lab has 19 systems to do experiments on Computer Hardware and Networking, VLSI and Automated Test Systems Engineering.
A New Lab Course Automated Test System Engineering was established in December 2018 with Boundary Scan trainer, Short circuit Locator, V-I Characteristics Trainer and In-circuit functional test with 10 users.
