The Polytechnic has advanced facilities in the areas of Communication Skills, CNC Machine Tools, Computers, CADD, Non-conventional energy devices, Electrical machines, Applied Electronics, PCB Making, Hardware Training, Hydraulics and Pneumatics, CNC Wire cut EDM, CMM, PLC and ROBOTICS. Prestigious MECHATRONICS system is set up and is used for training the students.

Library

The Library works for 5 days in a week
Monday through Friday 8.30 a.m to 6.30 p.m.

The computerised indexing of books is practised . A dedicated PC system is provided at the Library and the system can be used by the students to locate the books. There are nearly 20000 books and 40 Technical Magazines being subscribed. Book Bank contains about 4000 books. Lending of books are done against library cards issued to the students and staff.

Membership of the Library

All Staff and Students of Murugappa Polytechnic College are bonafide members of the Library. Use of Library facilities is restricted to the bonafide members.

Library In-Charge

Librarian of the Polytechnic is in-charge of the Library and is responsible for implementing the Rules and Regulations of the Library.

Library Committee

Library Committee constituted by the Principal consists of staff members of the Polytechnic. The Committee will oversee the activities of Library including purchase of books, journals and other items useful to the Library. The Committee will monitor the effective utilisation of Library resources and review the functioning of the Library. Librarian is the Secretary of the Committee.

Lending of Books, Journals, Video Tapes Etc.

  • Generally only books meant for lending are issued to the members against production of a Library card to the Librarian/Assistant in the Library.

  • Reference books, Journals and Video Tapes are not issued to members. However on a Special recommendation from the HOD such items may be issued against Library cards for a maximum of 2 days to a faculty member of the concerned department.

  • News papers and Magazines are not to be taken out of the Library.

  • Books and other items before being taken out of the Library should be checked for any missing pages/. mutilated condition and brought to notice of the Librarian.

  • The member shall be responsible for any loss or damage to the library material while in use by him/her and shall be required to replace or to pay the current cost of the materials as may be decided by the Library Committee.

  • Special learning material in the Book Bank and learning materials supplied by Ministry of Information and Technology, Department of Electronics will be lent to the students for a maximum period of one semester on the recommendation of the concerned HOD against library cards.

Library Cards

The members have to sign in the issue register on receipt of the card.

  • The members are responsible for safe keep of the cards issued to them.

  • Loss of cards will have to be intimated to the Librarian within a day of loss to prevent any misuse of the card.

  • Duplicate library cards will be issued on payment of Rs.100 /- each and only once during the membership.

  • The member will be responsible for any book lent against the lost card.

  • The members will have to return the cards to the Library on leaving the institution.

(In the case of the students on completion of the VI Semester {Regular Diploma} and VII Semester {Sandwich Diploma} and Faculty member. Technical and Administrative staff during the month of the retirement or leaving the institution.)

Fine

If the books and other Library materials issued against Library cards are not returned by the due date a fine of Re. 1/- per day per item from student members and Rs.2/- per day per item from faculty, support technical and administrative staff members will be levied.

Discipline 

  • Strict silence should be observed in the Library.

  • Any misbehavior or misuse of library facilities, by any member will be liable for removal of Library membership.
